About

Launched by the Art Directors Club and Moleskine®, The Undiscovered Letter is a creative challenge to benefit lettera27.

The competition, now closed, was open exclusively to past ADC Young Guns. You can see the winning work here. The Undiscovered Letter book, published by Moleskine, comes out December 2008.

Your mission:
Imagine and create communication tools, events or artifacts that spark ideas, that engage and activate resources, people, and networks, all in the spirit of lettera27— through creative inspiration, wiki-attitude, and activism.

Your project can be realized through any subject, form, skill, and media, from type design to copywriting, from illustration to video, from photography to billboards, from websites to events, and beyond. It can be a thing, a tool, a place, or an experience. Use the Moleskine notebook that has been mailed to you for initial concept sketches.

Do away with boundaries—use this project to liberate the mind, to bridge gaps and create connections. Be legendary. Be independent. Engage your capacity to do good.

Participation:
Project submissions will be evaluated by a jury, and the work of 27 selected finalists will be featured in a virtual exhibition on the ADC website. The exhibition will be open to the public for viewing, commentary and discussion.

Selected projects will also be featured in a limited edition Moleskine publication to be unveiled at the announcement of the ADC Young Guns 6 class in September 2008. Limited quantities will be available for sale to benefit lettera27.

lettera27 is a non-profit foundation. Its mission is to defend the right to literacy, education, and access to knowledge and information all over the world, especially in the more deprived areas.

In the spirit of the Art Directors Club and Moleskine®, this project celebrates excellence and innovation in creativity, and honors the power of the creative process as it pushes ideas into the world that set the tone for the communication tools of the future.

About Moleskine®
Moleskine is the legendary notebook used by great artists and thinkers for the past two centuries. This silent and discreet keeper of an extraordinary tradition was re-invented in 1998. With its various page styles, it accompanies the creative professions and has become a symbol of contemporary nomadism. Moleskine is a family of notebooks and diaries suitable for different functions, all fitting with a free style of mind, both basic and emotional.
